Born in central London M.Rey took an early interest in oil painting and regularly visited art galleries in London and was fascinated by an eclectic range of artists, from Bosch to Bacon, Fuseli to Dix from renaissance to conceptual art. With a natural penchant for the bizarre , disturbing and hypnogogic images, he aimed to create isolated scenes where the viewer is looking in, yet unable to participate in the uncomfortable states of the characters, entities and forms. As an ideas artist the realms and states are unlimited and unrestrained which allows M.Rey to create without need for reason and rationale. True artistic freedom. In this dream world of art, unseen theaters are inhabited by unseen visions in their microcosm of existence looking out at us!
